Writer, editor, and creator, Pat Mills is the driving force behind the legendary anthology that introduced readers to some of the industry’s most influential characters and creators. The story behind the birth of 2000 AD and its impact on the medium was later chronicled in his autobiographical works Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave! and 2000 AD and Judge Dredd: The Secret History.

His name is attached to some of the most important and enduring British comic series ever published, including the anti-war epic Charley’s War, the Celtic fantasy saga Sláine, and the science-fiction classic ABC Warriors, all of which have inspired generations of readers and creators alike.
Pat Mills also played a fundamental role in the development of iconic characters such as Judge Dredd and Dan Dare. His Judge Dredd storyline The Cursed Earth became the character’s most successful serial to date and helped establish the lawman of Mega-City One as one of the defining figures of British comics.
Together with legendary artist Kevin O’Neill, he also created Marshal Law, the savage and uncompromising deconstruction of the superhero genre that was published by Marvel and later by DC Comics and went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

His connection to British science fiction extends far beyond comics. Throughout his career, Mills has written both comic stories and audio dramas for Doctor Who, and his story The Star Beast was adapted as the first television special celebrating the series’ 60th anniversary.
Among his more recent works are Requiem: Vampire Knight, created alongside artist Olivier Ledroit, and the noir fantasy series Sha, proving that decades after helping redefine British comics, he continues to explore new worlds and challenge readers with fresh ideas.
At San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026, you’ll have the opportunity to meet one of the most important figures in European comic book history and one of the creators responsible for shaping some of the medium’s most influential characters and publications.
