The Last God, Action Comics, Batman & Robin, Marvel Zombies, and Midnight Spider-Man may not have much in common, but they all share one thing: they came from the imagination of Phillip Kennedy Johnson.
A writer, musician, and one of the most exciting voices in contemporary American comics, Kennedy Johnson has built a career defined by his ability to move effortlessly between genres such as dark fantasy, horror, science fiction, and superhero storytelling.

His name is particularly associated with The Last God, the acclaimed fantasy series published under DC Black Label and co-created with artist Riccardo Federici. Nominated for an Eisner Award, the series quickly established itself as one of the line’s most ambitious and celebrated projects thanks to its richly developed world and intricate storytelling.
At DC Comics, he has written some of the publisher’s flagship titles, including Action Comics, Batman & Robin, Aquaman, Animal Man, and Sinestro, while his run on Superman has become especially memorable for readers.
His work at Marvel includes titles such as Marvel Zombies: Resurrection, War Is Hell, Hellhunters, and the current Infernal Hulk, as well as the recently announced Midnight Spider-Man, one of the publisher’s most anticipated upcoming projects.

Beyond Marvel and DC, he has also written creator-owned series such as Last Sons of America, Smoketown, Warlords of Appalachia, Low Road West, and The Lost Boys of the U-Boat Bremen, while also contributing to franchises including King Kong, Adventure Time, Planet of the Apes, and The Dark Crystal.
With a career that continues to grow and a remarkable ability to jump between genres without losing his own distinctive voice, Phillip Kennedy Johnson has become one of the most closely watched writers in American comics today.
