Dave Jones is one of the few people who can say they have created two of the most influential franchises in the history of video games.
A Scottish programmer, designer, and entrepreneur, Jones has been a key figure in the industry’s evolution for nearly four decades. His name is associated with some of the most important video games of all time and with studios that have forever changed the way we understand video game development.

In 1987, he founded DMA Design, the studio that would later become Rockstar North. Two true industry phenomena were born there: Lemmings, the revolutionary puzzle game released in 1991, and Grand Theft Auto, released in 1997 and which, over the years, has become one of the most successful and influential franchises in the history of entertainment.
After leaving DMA Design, Jones founded Realtime Worlds in 2002, where he spearheaded new projects such as *Crackdown*, an innovative open-world action game that gave rise to a new franchise, and *APB: All Points Bulletin, an ambitious multiplayer game that once again demonstrated his interest in exploring new forms of freedom and interaction within open worlds.

Throughout his career, Dave Jones has been known for a design philosophy centered on giving players as much freedom as possible—an idea that has influenced generations of developers and remains one of the cornerstones of modern video game design.
His contribution to the industry has been recognized internationally, and in 2009, IGN named him one of the 100 most influential video game creators of all time.
At San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026, you’ll have the opportunity to meet one of the great pioneers of modern video games and the creator whose vision helped give rise to some of the most important and influential franchises in the history of the medium.
