Carolina Jiménez García has built a remarkable career: she contributes to some of Hollywood’s biggest productions while dedicating a significant part of her work to explaining how they’re made. A visual effects professional, educator, and science communicator, she has become one of the leading Spanish-language voices on filmmaking and the VFX industry.
Born in Madrid, Carolina initially studied Architecture before discovering her true passion for computer animation and digital visual effects. That decision led her to an international career that has taken her to Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada, where she currently works as a Lead Layout Artist at Scanline VFX.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with directors including Ridley Scott, George Miller, Peter Jackson, and Tim Burton, contributing to some of the most ambitious productions of recent years. Her filmography includes Prometheus, The Hobbit trilogy, Star Trek Beyond, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Justice League, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Eternals, Joker, and Terminator: Dark Fate.
She was also part of the visual effects team behind the final season of Game of Thrones, whose work was recognized with a Primetime Emmy Award.
Alongside her work in the film industry, Carolina is deeply committed to education and outreach. She teaches on platforms such as Domestika and VFX Dailies, volunteers with educational initiatives including Skype a Scientist, Inspiring Girls, Mentos, and WomanTech, and regularly appears on radio, television, and podcasts as a visual effects and film expert.
Her passion for sharing the craft behind filmmaking has also made her one of the most popular VFX communicators in the Spanish-speaking world. Through articles, talks, videos, and her widely followed social media posts, she helps audiences discover the artistry and technology behind modern visual effects. She also advises film schools and audiovisual productions on VFX-related matters.
Her work has been recognized with awards including the Redes Sociales con Cultura Award at the Galardones Alcazaba, honoring her contribution to cultural outreach through new technologies, and the Tesla Science Communication Award for her research article El Informe Mamberry.
