
Behind every great anime series are the artists who bring each scene to life, frame by frame. Among them are Miyako Jingū and Mitsumasa Kimura, two veteran animation professionals whose careers span some of the most influential titles in Japanese animation.

Miyako Jingū has built her career as an animator and animation director, contributing to works that have become milestones of anime history. As a key animator on Dragon Ball Z, she worked on the series’ final arc, including memorable scenes such as the moment when Majin Vegeta resists Babidi’s control. She also served as animation director on Kenyū Densetsu YAIBA and worked as a key animator on the acclaimed OVA You’re Under Arrest.

Her credits also include iconic productions such as Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Captain Tsubasa, Urusei Yatsura, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Dirty Pair, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Slayers, and GTO. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with director and storyboard artist Yoshihiro Ueda, collaborating on several of his most notable projects.

Joining her is Mitsumasa Kimura, an animator and animation director whose career has taken him across many of the most popular anime series of the past several decades. As an animator, he has worked on Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter × Hunter, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, while serving as animation director on Cardfight!! Vanguard, Princess Nine, and Persona 4: The Animation.

His extensive filmography also includes Fairy Tail, Detective Conan, Monster, Elfen Lied, Fist of the North Star, GTO, Hajime no Ippo, Combat Mecha Xabungle, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, and Arion, making him part of some of the most celebrated productions in anime history.
At San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026, fans will have the opportunity to meet two of the artists whose work has helped shape some of anime’s most memorable characters and scenes, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process behind many of Japan’s most beloved series.
