Horror, fantasy, and adventure have made El Torres one of Spain’s most internationally acclaimed comic book creators. With a career spanning more than two decades, the Málaga-born writer has published his work through some of the industry’s leading publishers, establishing himself as one of the most distinctive voices in genre comics.
After beginning his professional career as an editor, he turned to writing with titles such as Rogues!, Swordmasters, and Team Triumph. In 2007, he entered the American comics market through publishers including IDW Publishing and Image Comics, where he created some of the works that earned him international recognition.

Among his best-known titles are The Veil, Nancy in Hell, and The Suicide Forest, the latter receiving three Haxtur Awards and being optioned for a feature film adaptation. His ability to blend horror, fantasy, mystery, and emotional depth has earned him recognition from both readers and critics, who regard him as one of today’s leading creators in genre comics.
Throughout his career, he has also explored other genres with acclaimed works such as The Ghost of Gaudí, winner of the Best National Work Award at the Barcelona International Comic Fair, Goya: The Terrible Sublime, and Virtual Hero, co-created with El Rubius and later adapted into an original television series for Movistar+.
Committed to creator-owned comics, El Torres founded Amigo Comics to help bring Spanish talent to the international market. Today, he develops much of his work through his own publishing house, Karras, where he continues creating stories ranging from horror to epic fantasy, including projects such as Barbarian King (Sangre Bárbara).

In addition to writing, El Torres is an accomplished letterer, lettering all of his own works while frequently collaborating with fellow creators. Over the course of his career, he has received numerous honors, including Haxtur Awards, the Carlos Giménez Award, the AACE Award, the José Sanchis Award, the Best National Work Award at the Barcelona International Comic Fair, and nominations for both the prestigious Eisner Awards and Harvey Awards.
At San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026, you’ll have the opportunity to meet one of Spain’s most internationally successful comic book creators and discover the work of a writer who has made horror, fantasy, and popular culture the hallmarks of his storytelling.
